Luke's recovery after surgery was difficult as expected. We were expecting a call to see him at 12:35 but the call never came until 2:30 and Rhonda was very worried and almost in tears.
The first thing he said when he came around from the anesthesia was, "Mommy, can we go home?" He passed all of his nervous system tests...gag reflexes, coughing, etc. These nerves were in the vicinity where they were working and were the biggest concern. He can move his toes and fingers so his nervous system is still in tact. I asked him to name his brothers and sister and he said in a ventriloquist-style voice..."EriJonnyNKir".
From 2:30-4:30 he threw up once and was in a great deal of pain at which point we had seen enough and asked for the morphine. From 5:00-6:30 he slept and at 7:00 he started watching Spongebob cartoons; I will be searching for a Star Wars movie because, after all he is "...Luke Skywalker and I am his Faaather!"
Just like you all, we constantly check this site to see if anyone is reading these updates. I've had alot of calls and we enjoy reading all the comments. Thanks every for the prayers and wishes!!

Hi Guys,
I am back in Martinsburg and am hoping Luke is continuing to improve and that you have a peaceful night. Rhonda, I hope you got some much needed sleep as I forgot to give you the drammamine to make you sleepy. It was a pleasure spending the day with you. You both held up extremely well today under the stress. I am just as proud of the two of you as I am of Luke. I'll check back tomorrow morning and if you need some more light conversation and some more laughs I'll come back again. Looking forward to checking back again for some more good news. I'll say more prayers tonight. Love and God Bless. Julie
Like everyone else, I'm so glad to read the good news about Luke. I've had him and your family in my prayers throughout the day and put all of you on my church prayer list. So many prayers have gone out over this past week for Luke and all. My prayers remain with you and my family sends loving thoughts your way! Jo Anna
hi Luke, We are praying the Lord is surrounding you at this very moment with his ever loving arms,so that you can have the best nights rest to allow your body to heal, Eric hit a good solid in the park home run at the Cresson All- Stars for you, and he had a terrific triple, and RBI's ,was the first off the field several times. they went on to win 16 to 5. also, played a great game at claysburg. they all played a great two games to keep them going' you would have been so proud. Get a good night's rest so you can come home soon. we love you and miss you.Korban was also at the game ,and said hi luke skywalker' may the force be with you, I say may the Lord be with you, always. korban also says he loves you and hurry home so you can play lightsavers, you are so Special
Glad to hear that Luke is doing well!!! Like we told you guys before, if you need ANYTHING, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are keeping you guys in our prayers. See all soon!! Tony, Susan, and Adam
Good morning neighbors! As with everyone else we were glad to hear of the success of the surgery. Prayers are indeed answered! It was nice that you had someone there to sit with you, that is a very hard thing to sit and wait when things are out of your hands but everything was in much bigger hands than ours. Eric had some excellant hits in the games last night once the pressure of the parents was off. If you need anything done while you are gone or once you get back let us know, we are here to help.
The Knepps.
I am so glad that you are keeping "us" updated with this. We have been praying. Didn't call last night....was thinking the first night would be a little tough. Am planning to come down to Hershey tonight if that is okay. Tell Luke that we are "rooting for him" and will see you all soon. If you can -- post his room number/floor for me so I know where I am going. God Is Good! Wendy
I know you guys don't really know me but I am Cathy's boss. I heard about Luke only a couple days ago and ever since then, your whole family has been in my prayers and thoughts. I am so happy to hear he is doing well and I do hope he continues to even better.
